遇到好幾次的老問題


在某些情況下,例如 Primary Server 掛點重開機,Second Server 的 caroot 會遺失


造成開啟 BAB 相關功能 Window ,會提示輸入密碼,但輸入正確也無法登入的情況!!


 


解決方式:


步驟一:

 

c:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\ca_auth –user  getall

螢幕上的輸出應與下列類似:

使用者名稱: caroot

 

若您看不到任何使用者、caroot,或在執行指令時接收到其他錯誤,請執行下列步驟二

Title:  Getting error: Failed to authenticate the user caroot (EC=-1) when opening CA ARCserve manager.



Description:


This error normally appears due to the following reasons:



  1. The CA ARCserve Services are stopped.


  2. The password for caroot is incorrect.


  3. The caroot equivalent is no longer valid or has not enough userrights.

Solution:


Please follow the steps given below to resolve this problem:



  1. Log on to the backup server.


  2. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools.


  3. Click on Services.


  4. Make sure all the CA ARCserve Backup Services are started as shown
    below:




  5. If all the CA ARCserve services are started, then follow the steps mentioned
    below to reset the caroot password.


  6. Open the command prompt and browse to the directory:
    X:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve Backup in case of release 12.0 and
    X:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup in case of release 11.5


  7. Run authsetup.exe /p ""


  8. Start Arcserve Manager

    Note: you will get an error message 218 that caroot password is not correct. Please confirm this message and
    enter the new password as given in step 7.

If the steps above will not solve the issue follow with the steps below:



  1. Type cstop on the command prompt at same location as in step 6. and hit Enter.


  2. Open Windows Explorer and browse to:
    X:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve Backup\Data\Discovery folder in case of
    release 12.0
    X:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\Data\Discovery folder in
    case on release 11.5


  3. You will find the name of the backup server under this directory. Rename
    the folder to <servername.old>.

    NOTE: this will reset the caroot equivalent and the caroot password. Please refer to your Commandline Reference Guide for further information how to set a new caroot equivalent for caroot by ca_auth command tool.


  4. Type cstart on the command prompt and hit Enter.


  5. Open the CA ARCserve manager again and when prompted for the caroot
    password, leave the password field blank and click Ok.
    This will set the caroot password to blank.


  6. If you wish to change the caroot password, open windows explorer and
    navigate to X:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve Backup and double click on
    ARCserveCfg.exe for release 12.0 and BConfig.exe for release 11.5


  7. Select the option "Password for Backup Server logon and Administration" as
    shown below:




  8. Click on Next. On the next screen, leave the old password field blank,
    put the new password and follow the prompts.
